If I Were A Song, The Title Would Be...

If you could be a song, what song would you be? Even better, if you could be a 90's song, which one would you be? Who influenced your style? What artists shaped your childhood? Which songs can you hear and immediately go right back to  that time? Nostalgia is so magical. There is nothing like it.

If I was a DMX song, I would be 'How's It Going Down'. For those that were kids in that era, wasn't that song a vibe? Play it. Doesn't it take your right back to 1998? I'm not the album cut. I'm the version with Faith Evans. Yasssssss! Her voice just takes the song to another level. So angelic. This has to be the song the made me love DMX. Remember when music had substance and the artists told stories? You would be surprised how many of those songs actually happened.

If I was a Soul For Real song, I would beeeeeee. TOUGH one. I'd be 'Every Little Thing I Do'. While 'Candy Rain' was classic it doesn't resonate with me as much as ELTID. As far as music, harmonies, vibes, background vocals, beat, & visuals--this is IT! I wanted to go to a skate party so bad like the older kids. My mom ain't wanna let me live. Do yourself a favor & watch this video. "I can't get over you. I think about you all the time." Man, oh, man. It's criminal how time just escapes.

If I was a Total song, I would definitely be 'Can't You See'. That's a staple in 90's girl group music. Well, mid-90's music period. "Every time I see you, I get this feeling. Telling me you are the one". They were so melodic. I cannot get over how they were hopping & bopping in this video. Watch this one too. Puff created a wave. When Bad Boy was on top, life was so good. Take me BACK! #RIPBIG

If I was a TLC song, I would be 'What About Your Friends'. Listen. If I could dress like TLC did in the early 90's, NOW--that would complete my life. "Well, is it me or can it be I am a little too friendly/ So to speak". They birthed The Spice Girls in my eyes. What girl group had a more controversial content than TLC at the time? No girl group inspires my style more than them. Oh, & shoutout to my best friend GiGi!!! She proofreads all my blogs because she loves me! <3#CrazySexyCoolForever

If I were a Tupac Song, I would be 'Keep Ya Head Up'. "Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice. I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots. I give a holler to my sisters on welfare. Tupac cares--if don't nobody else care. I know they like to beat you down a lot & when you come around the block brothers clown a lot. But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up. Forgive but don't forget girl, keep ya head up". Tupac's music speaks for itself. Uplifting, inspiring, high emotions, & flat out honest. When he said "While the rich kids is driving Benz, I'm still tryna hold on to surviving friends", I felt that with my soul. It's expected growing up in Trenton, NJ.

The great thing about technology is that we now have access to all of our favorite music at any time. Do you remember ordering cd's from those mailers & waiting a week for them to come?
I would order them in my aunts' name & throw the bill away when it came to the house.
I'd pick all my favorite albums which was a struggle because the would only let you order like 5/6.
I checked the mail EVERYDAY for those cd's until they came.
Had to secure the package--LOL!
Remember CD players? Remember how you felt when the battery light would come on?
Remember sneaking them into school?
Security guards were on the prowl!
